Role Overview:

The Wine Consultant is responsible for providing and implementing strategic direction, coaching and training for both our team members and guests and supporting department managers while making safety a top priority in carrying out daily job duties.

What you will do:

Reporting to the Store Manager, the specific responsibilities of the Wine Consultant include but are not limited to the following areas:

  • Implement educational (product/knowledge/sales techniques, etc.) and creative programs in our liquor store for both our team members and guests.
  • Supporting private functions in the tasting center.
  • In collaboration with Wine Buyers, manage the purchasing, selling and distributions of the personal wine locker program.
  • Interact with guests on the sales floor to provide expert advice, create an ongoing relationship with key wine purchasers, and provide continuous education with our team.
  • Maintain current industry and product knowledge through periodicals, meetings, and industry events.
  • Create new or enhance existing programs or technologies to improve the experience of team members and guests.
  • Maintain a booking calendar for the tasting rooms for educational classes and private functions.
  • Leading and inspiring the team to the 4 Keys to Excellence.
  • Contribute to the Team in living the Corporate Values of Integrity, Community and Excellence.
  • To perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Who you are:

Looking for a career in Retail Store Operations as well as:

  • Recognized wine education designation
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in the liquor industry.
  • WSET 3 preferred or WSET 2 with a strong passion for wine.
  • Experience hosting wine seminars and public events is an asset.
  • Retail wine and spirits experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and the ability to manage computer files efficiently.
  • Effective interpersonal, leadership and communication skills.
  • Motivation and ability to work in a busy environment.
  • Effective planning, organization and time management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrate the ability to maintain relationships outside of the organization that supports the organization.
  • Enjoy working with public.
  • Ability to physically lift, push, pull up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis and stand for full 8 hour shift 
  • Must be committed to a SAFE working environment 
  • MUST be over 19 years of age to be considered 
  • MUST have open availability and able to work a variety of shifts that include mornings, afternoons, and evenings till 8pm
  • This position is based out of our Monashees Liquor Store, though it may require on some occasions to travel and work at other locations as business needs arise
